• Icebreaker

Share one way you’ve seen God’s grace in your life this week.

  • Prayer

Ask God to open hearts to His Word and provide wisdom to understand and overcome sin.

  • Key Questions

    1. What is sin?

    2. How does sin affect our relationship with God?

    3. What can we do to overcome sin?

  • Scriptures

Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Isaiah 59:2: "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God..."

  • Activity

    1. Personal Reflection:

Begin by encouraging participants to reflect quietly on a recurring sin they may be struggling with. Emphasize that they do not need to share this aloud, as this is a personal moment between them and God. Optionally, share a brief story (personal or biblical) about the battle with sin to set the tone.

    2. Group Discussion:

Write key questions on chart paper or a whiteboard to guide the discussion. Examples: a. What does the Bible say about sin. b. How does sin affect our relationship with God? c. What can we do to overcome sin?

Divide the participants into small groups. Provide each group with chart paper and markers to record their answers. Encourage them to reference scripture and biblical stories as they discuss.

    3. Presenting Findings:

    a. Have one member from each group write their key answers on the main chart or whiteboard. b. Another member from each group will share their findings with the entire class, summarizing their discussion and Scripture references.

    4. Whole Group Action Plan:

After all groups have presented, work together as a class to create a list of 5-10 practical ways to combat recurring sin. Examples might include prayer, accountability, Scripture memorization, or avoiding temptation. Write these on the main chart as a collective action plan.

  • Closing

    1. Recap Key Points:

Summarize the group’s findings and highlight key Scriptures and insights shared during the activity.

Reiterate the action plan created together, emphasizing that these are practical, biblical steps to combat recurring sin.

    2. Encourage Commitment:

Encourage participants to choose one or two steps from the action plan to focus on during the week. Remind them that change happens through God’s strength and consistent effort.

Share Philippians 1:6: "Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus," as a reminder that God is working in their lives.

    3. Close with Prayer

Empower each person to overcome the sins they face

Provide His grace and forgiveness as they grow in faith.

    4. Closing Thought:

Leave the class with this encouraging reminder: "Victory over sin is not achieved by our own strength but by surrendering to God, walking in His Spirit, and trusting in His promises. You are not alone in this battle—God is with you, and He is faithful to help you."
